FAQs
Hello, are there going to be more books set in the world of Of Feathers and Thorns, Us, Et Cetera…. x, y, z?
All my books should be treated as standalone … that is, until I’ve written a sequel :)
I understand this is vague, but I do like open endings because in my view they most resemble real life. Whenever you complete a quest, it’s not like life just stops. Usually, it throws more stuff at you.
Also I’m baffled by the idea of committing to writing a series before I get any feedback from the readers, which means I like to see how the book is doing, what readers like and don’t like before developing the story further. I think creating the best book I can is only fair to all parties involved. That being said, I’d love to write more of Kieren, Esten, and Oi.
Are your books YA or Adult?
Technically, they are NA—New Adult. But the publishing industry is still struggling with that category, so here we are * shrugs *
In OFAT, Kieren is 18 and Esten is 20, but readers often shelve it in YA because of the voice/story structure. In Us, Et Cetera, Eke and Kyp are supposed to look like late teens/early twenties, but I haven’t yet seen anyone tag it as YA haha. I’m guessing because of the content.
Speaking of, why are AIs in Us, Et Cetera made to look NA?
Because Crowne Corp decided that making them look like kids or grown men would be too creepy. Someone in their early twenties, however, still looks “young” enough for humans to boss around without a second thought. Also because vanity and our obsession with youth and good looks.
I heard there is a lot of violence in your books. Is it true?
Yes.
But define “a lot.”
I personally think the amount of violence in each story is justified by the plot/character development and shouldn’t spring up on you out of nowhere. I also do my best to provide content warnings, but I’m just one author and cannot make judgements as to what is going to be too much for any particular reader.
My advice is to check out reviews before you purchase my books.
